Spaces to Thrive is a partnership between The New York Public Library and the Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health to spark conversations about mental health and bring free mental health programming to New Yorkers.

New York's public libraries are at the forefront of responding to the needs of New Yorkers, including the city's most underserved communities. By bringing free mental health resources to NYPL branches, we're making sure that mental health knowledge and support is accessible to all—no matter what neighborhood you live in.

Since its inception in 2015, the Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health—formerly ThriveNYC— has been committed to ensuring that all New Yorkers have access to mental health support. With Spaces to Thrive, the Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health's resources are available at 13 NYPL branches across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island—and amplified through social media at #SpacesToThrive.

Spaces to Thrive Programming Includes:

  • Free mental health programming at participating branches
  • A dedicated Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health section containing books on mental health at participating branches
  • Information about citywide mental health resources and services
