For persons who are unable to visit the Music Division, a number of other options exist to provide at least partial access to our vast resources.

Telephone Reference Service

The Music Division's professional staff answers brief reference queries by phone during open hours--a particularly valuable service for out-of-town users. Please call (212) 870-1650.

E-mail and Fax Service

The Music Division accepts reference questions by e-mail and fax. Please supply us with your full name and mailing address. The fax number is (212) 870-1794.

Letter Reference Service

Questions that cannot be answered quickly by phone may sometimes be handled by letter. Knowledgeable staff members respond to mail queries that do not involve a great deal of research.

Interlibrary Loan

Requests should be directed to your local library.

Copy and Research Service

The Music Division can direct your copy orders to the Library’s document delivery service, NYPL Express. Requests for microfilm, photographs, digital images and licensing will be directed to Photographic Services & Permissions.
