Material cataloged prior to 1970 is found in the ten volume Dictionary Catalog of the Map Division, available for perusal in the Division, and in many map libraries around the U.S. In addition, many map and atlas titles found in other divisions of NYPL may be found cited in the 800-volume Dictionary Catalog of The Research Libraries, also found in libraries across the United States.Copy Services The Research Libraries may provide copies of maps via quick copy, photography, 35mm. color slides and 4 x 5" color transparencies. Please refer to the Photographic Services & Permissions site for more information. Permission to copy is given by the Librarian on duty, on a case by case basis, depending on the size, condition and date of the map. Fragile materials may never be quick copied. Researchers may photograph materials with permission of the Librarian on duty. Use of natural light is preferred.
