Natural History
This guide is an introduction to some of the natural history resources available in The New York Public Library, especially in the General Research Division. Included within this wide-ranging subject area are zoology, botany, horticulture, gardening and garden design, "man and nature," and the humanistic and philosophical aspects of conservation and ecology. Related subjects such as agriculture, forestry, and aquaculture are collected by the Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL). Natural History materials are housed not only in the General Research Division open shelf collections and stacks, but also in the Rare Books Division (Rm. 328), the Prints Collection (Rm. 308), and the Arents Collection of Books in Parts (Rm. 324). Librarians can assist in the use of the catalogs, which are available in the interim Public Catalog Room (Rm. 121) as well as in several other Library units.
