Literary Magazine Editors Introducing Emerging Writers at The New York Public Library

The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses [clmp] and The New York Public Library present Periodically Speaking, a reading series providing a major new venue for emerging writers to present their work while emphasizing the diversity of literary magazines in New York City and the magazine collections of The New York Public Library. Each event presents writers from three influential literary magazines—one poet, one fiction writer, one nonfiction writer—introduced by their publishers/editors.

Granta
Granta magazine publishes new writing—fiction, personal history, reportage and inquiring journalism—four times a year. Since 1979, the year of its rebirth, Granta has published many of the world's finest writers tackling some of the world’s most important subjects, from intimate human experiences to large public and political events.
Editor Matt Weiland introduces nonfiction writer Saïd Sayrafiezadeh.

The Southern Review
Founded by Robert Penn Warren and Cleanth Brooks in 1935 and published quarterly at Louisiana State University, The Southern Review has long been known for its role in the discovery of new voices in literature. This tradition continues with the publication of original fiction, poetry, nonfiction and art in each new issue.
Editor Bret Lott introduces poet Jane Springer.

The Gettysburg Review
The Gettysburg Review, published by Gettysburg College, is recognized as one of the country’s premier journals. Since its debut in 1988, more than eighty short stories, poems, and essays first published in our journal have been reprinted in the prize anthologies or have reappeared in such esteemed publications as Harper’s.
Editor Peter Stitt introduces fiction writer Benjamin Hedin.
