Evelyn Frangakis Appointed Chief Librarian for Preservation

New York, NY, August 5, 2004 -- Evelyn Frangakis has been appointed the Aaron and Clara Greenhut Rabinowitz Chief Librarian for Preservation in the Research Libraries of The New York Public Library.

Ms. Frangakis most recently served as the Preservation Officer for the National Agriculture Library, where she oversaw NAL’s digital preservation activities. She also held positions in the University of Maryland and Stanford University Libraries, and in such organizations as the Society of American Archivists and the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts. Among her many professional activities, she directs and teaches in the Preservation Management Institute at Rutgers University. As Rabinowitz Chief Librarian for Preservation, Ms. Frangakis will manage the Preservation Division and take the lead in planning library-wide preservation initiatives.
