Explore your artistic potential with Creative Aging, a series of art workshops for adults 50 and older.
 

This program will be held in person at Mosholu Library. Join us for ""My Hands Are My Heart"!  Teaching Artist Blanka Amezkua teaches 8 sessions of an art workshop inspired by James Baldwin. 

Description:  These workshops are tailored for an adult audience, and participants will engage in activities such as embroidering, gluing, painting, printing, and cutting, all in alignment with their individual preferences and capacities. They will utilize materials such as needles, construction paper, silk flowers, pipe cleaners, felt, string, scissors, and tissue paper. The creative process will be guided by themes and ideas explored by James Baldwin.

Materials will be provided for this program. 

This series will consist of 8 sessions, 90 min each. 

Dates:  Saturdays, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13 (Canceled), 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 6/1

(*Blanka will be here all Saturdays from 1-2:30, March 30 - June 1st except April 13. She is opening a group art show on that day at Bronx River Art Center and everyone is invited to attend from 5:30-8:30pm.*)

Time: 1pm - 2:30pm

About the Artist

Blanka Amezkua is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural promoter, educator, and project creator with exhibitions at MoMA/P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, Queens Museum, El Museo del Barrio, the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, San Diego Art Institute, Wave Hill Public Garden & Cultural Center, the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, Art Base, Brussels among others. Her practice is greatly influenced and informed by folk art and popular culture. In 2008 she began an artist-run project called the Bronx Blue Bedroom Project (BBBP), which ran from 2008-2010.  

 

About Creative Aging

Creative Aging is a series of free art classes for adults 50 and older.
