In regards to your post, I will be hosting two programs on NYC garbage history. On Tuesday April 22, Robin Nagle will be presesting a program entitled Death in an Angry Sea: One Hurricane, Eigth Scows, Twelve Tugboats and A Hundred Tons of Trash. Also on Wednesday May 21, Ben Miller author of Fat of the Land, will be talking about garbage history. Both programs will be at the Mid-Manhattan Library at 6:30 on the 6th Fl. Both programs will be great and I invite all to attend!
I have driven on 440 twice this past year, never before and I must say I am impressed with the great expanse of land that used to be a stinky mess.
