Recently promoted from Computer Page at the 125th Street Branch Library to Library Clerk at the Aguilar Branch Library, Jose demonstrates that the Computer Page Program provides individuals with the opportunity to advance themselves as they contribute to the growth and welfare of their community. Reflecting on his one-year Computer Page experience, Jose describes his favorite aspects of the job: helping patrons with problems on the Internet and on the Macintosh Computer. Jose witnessed patrons' skills and confidence grow when manipulating the computers and printers, due in part to his assistance. In addition, Jose maintained user statistics to produce monthly reports that enabled Library officials to assess computer demand. Jose is a freshman at Interborough Institute and plans to major in Computer Information Systems.
