ABOUT THE COLLECTION

AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) experienced volunteers will provide job coaching and counseling services tailored to the 50+ job seekers.  Volunteers will focus on targeting clients’ transferable skills and the needs of adults who wish to return to the workforce.  Free consultations will be available at the Job Information Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 am to 3 pm.  Registration is required, please call (212) 340-0968 or 340-0836.

SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives Association) sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available for free consultations at the Job Information Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 am to 7 pmFree appointments may be made at (212) 340-0968 or 340-0836.

Up-to-date information is available in the Job Information Center for anyone interested in looking for a job, researching careers, or exploring a career change. This includes materials on different careers, resume writing, job search strategies, and self exploration.

Classified ads from most daily and weekly New York City newspapers are posted on a bulletin board.

There is also information on civil service, education, and job skills training programs; management training programs; directories of potential employers in all parts of the country; and study handbooks for civil service and professional exams.
