About the Collection
The Education Collection is the only collection
in The New York Public Library providing information to students,
teachers and educators doing research in education from pre-school
to the post graduate level. Areas represented include the history, philosophy, psychology, sociology and statistics of
education.
Current directories of colleges and universities, distance
learning and vocational programs are available including financial aid information.
The Test Collection includes GED, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, NYSTCE (ATS-LAST), SAT, TOEFL and
other test preparation guides. We have recently added study
material for fourth and eighth grade standardized tests. Applications for a some of these tests
are available, but the majority are now on-line.
Other areas covered include:
- Citizenship preparation materials for immigrants to successfully pass
the U.S. Citizenship test.
- The Lifelong Learning section contains a selection of books
for adults who would like to improve their basic reading and writing
skills.
- The School Pamphlet File has flyers and pamphlets from
a variety of school programs in New York and the rest of the country.
- The Continuing Education File has materials for adults who wish
to further their learning and improve their skills.
- The Education Vertical File has materials on school choice, reading scores, government documents, college
